This is an important read for anyone navigating the legal system for the first time. Written by an attorney, it offers insight and examples for anyone facing a legal battle, explaining in simple language why the legal process can be so daunting. What I came away with is: 1) most all lawyers do the best they can for the clients they represent, and, 2) given that every turn of a case is deeply unique, often complex (both in law and circumstances) it is important to adhere to the legal process at every juncture if you desire to have an optimum outcome. If you need a lawyer, read this book first!

Very interesting book from a lawyer about lawyers. Do read it, especially if:1) You are thinking about starting a legal battle and hiring a lawyer. This book might help you save some money.2) You play with a thought of entering a law school. You may change your mind.3) You are already in the middle of a legal battle and you wonder if you lawyer actually does something. This book may shed a light on what your lawyer does and how the legal system works.4) You want to take a look at the legal machine from the “inside” and just read a good honest story with self-irony and humor.

As a business owner, I've often said, "I should really learn how to think like an attorney." Well this book does just that! It really helped me understand where an attorney is coming from and how the "system" is set up.I especially loved the section titled "Lawyers are trained to make everything complicated." This really helped me think through some of my contracts and how I could simplify the language... therefore making them more likely to be signed. What a concept!!! Her example of "issue spotting" on a neighborly dog watching contract was so clear and concise.Finally, the "helpful hacks" were just that... very helpful. I learned so much reading this book. I recommend it to everyone in business and beyond!

Fascinating introspection on the legal profession. This is a must read for anyone approaching a legal hassle.Ms Kramer's chapter, "Fueled by Fear and Adrenaline" was an eye-opener. Lawyers are not the only group for which the description could apply. This is a must-read for teachers, law enforcement officers, and parents, as well as attorneys and their clients.!Enjoy . . . and think it over.Looking forward to "Hacking, Part 2."

I decisively agree that a vast majority of lawyers are charlatans, particularly if you don't have any previous knowledge dealing with them.Otherwise, they will fleece you!Caveat emptor, let the buyer beware!!!

If you have ever been represented by a lawyer, I would bet that you wish you had read this book first. If you need to be represented by a lawyer you must read this book first. If nothing else, this book could save you thousands of dollars in legal fees. Better yet, this book may help you come to your senses and not even bother diving head first into a losing cause. This has NOT been a paid testimonial.

I found this book very informative and entertaining. I've been recommending it in recent conversations and even had a discussion with a former lawyer about some of the content. He said he could definitely identify with the adrenaline rush. I would love to see Melody Kramer in action (as long as she was on my side!)
