Good overview of animals and plants. It also has sections on larger Galapagos geology and natural history. The best feature of this particular guide is that it lists specific attractions for the most popular visitation sites. If you're planning a land stay and want to organize day boats, the site guide is invaluable. We took a multi-day, guided boat tour, so the schedule was mostly planned out, but the site guides let me review the specific animals we were likely to see, habits and markings. Overall, a good book to have as a trip-planning aid at least a month or two prior to departure. This is a good single-shot book in a pocketable size, but as such can't go into huge depth. The book by Swash does a bit better with bird markings, particularly showing side-by-side comparisons of similar species. If you're doing a dive trip or really like fish, a dedicated fish guide would also be advisable.

Perfect for pre & post trip. Fun to anticipate adventure, great for identifying afterwards.Bit heavy/thick when aiming for minimal packing weight, so took 'Birds, Mammals, Reptiles of Galapagos' on trip instead.Life is good!!

A great resource to have on hand when voyaging in the Galapagos. Not a perfect field guide but the best for the area that exists currently. There are better books for in depth knowledge but this is the one I turned to after our daily excursions in the islands.

i found this interesting and helpful. i was in the galapagos and used this pocket guide. very easy to carry and look up what i saw.....various other people on the tour would ask to see this on the bus we were on....just a nice, handy helpful guide.....clearly it does not have every creature; but it hit the highlights

Comprehensive take-along book, the only one I need to take. Good advice for photographers, list of flora and fauna for each island, (which I am studying before trip.)Bulk of book is color photos of the plants, animals, birds, fish. I cannot learn all of this ahead of time, but expect to reference it as we have our lectures and pre-embarcation talks.My only negative is that the binding is so tight that you need 2 hands to keep it open to read. I would prefer a spiral binding.

We just returned from a tour of the Galapagos Islands. On the boat, we had a copy of this book and it was great to identify wildlife that we had seen. When we got home, we decided we needed another copy of this book.

definitely interesting and very accurate and detailed. It was the perfect book to have along on our recent Galapagos trip and an excellent reference guide for=us.

I think that this is a must have book for nature lovers who visit the Galápagos Islands. The two other popular fold-out " easy-to-carry publications, aren't suitable for the serious observer. It was a little lacking on picturing some of the common blooming plants, bushes & trees. Otherwise I would give it 5stars for birders. Also it is not available in stores on the Islands. Buy before you leave the U S.
