From the Author
1. Why did you write this book?To create a primer for potential pot growers to get started simply and easily. My book is an entry-level introduction to the many different concepts and techniques that ensure successful harvests, right from the beginning. I've broken down every stage of growth to it's basics to try to give anyone, including those without a green thumb, a healthy start down to path of growing their own cannabis. It's a step-by-step guide that's easy to read and understand.  2. What gives you the authority to write this book? Simply put, I know good weed. I've been growing and working with pot for almost 30 years. I've judged more High Times Cannabis Cups than anyone on earth. It's safe to say I've also visited more marijuana grows than anyone on earth, from the tiniest closets and tents to massive outdoor, greenhouse and warehouse facilities. I've moderated and been on countless cultivation panels at events around the world with all of the top experts in marijuana growing. Due to my travels, I've been able to absorb multiple different ways to produce pot and discern which are the easiest and most effective. 3. Why should people learn to grow their own pot? There's no better feeling than creating your own medicine and no better hobby than home cultivation. Plus, it's much cheaper and you know exactly what went into it. You know the strain and whether pesticides were used on it. Also, most commercially grown cannabis isn't flushed, dried or cured properly. When you grow your own, you get a superior and affordable product for pennies to the dollar. Plus it's fun! 4. Will intermediate and expert growers benefit from this book? Absolutely! The book includes many important tips and tricks to increasing yields and producing bigger harvests. Concepts such as creating your own mother-plants will greatly benefit growers of all levels of expertise. 5. Why did you choose illustrations over photographs? I think many of the concepts are easier to understand from simple illustrations. Techniques such as cloning or pruning can be tough to digest when presented in a complicated textbook-style manner. I seek to simplify the process down to its essential elements and drawings convey that better than photos. 6. How much does it cost to get started growing your own pot? Prospective growers can get started for under $1000 dollars, depending on how and where they choose to grow. In this book, I illustrate how someone on a limited budget can purchase a simple grow tent and some lighting, then supplement with some air circulation and purification equipment and be well on their way to self-sufficiency. 7. What are the two biggest mistakes new growers make? Overfeeding and overwatering. Sometimes the best thing to do is just to get out of the plant's way. That's not to say to ignore it - you must stay vigilant about potential pests and problems - but let it grow without interference if everything is looking healthy. 8. What's the best advice you can give to a new grower? "Never put minor before major." I received this advice early on in my growing career and have put it to good use ever since. Essentially, it means don't let a tiny or barely perceptible problem blind you to a more glaring issue that must be dealt with immediately. 9. What are the biggest mistakes more experienced growers make? They become too complacent and rest upon their laurels. Each grow is a new opportunity to improve and I can't tell you how many "professional" gardens I've visited with dead or dying leaves on the plants or on the floor. This is an invitation to buds and molds, and yet these experts somehow fail to see the dilemma or diminish the importance. 10. Why should someone buy this book with so much information available for free on the internet? The information in my book is concise, easy-to-understand and has been compiled over years of research and expertise. There's plenty of different ways to grow cannabis and no one way fits all growers. I've outlined the basics with the idea that the reader can decide about a number of directions they wish to go and grow. There's no dogma - simply the essentials to understanding the life cycle and the processes with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of your pot.Â

This is a wonderful gift for folks new to growing cannabis. Its format is simplistic and easy to understand without sacrificing the depth that helps you get a great grow. It does focus solely on indoor grows, so that’s something to consider. The illustrations by Paul Layzell are a stand out throughout the book. I look forward to jumping into my first grow with the help of this awesome and informative guide. Thanks Danny and keep up the great work!
Disappointed with this book. It is practically devoid of specific recommendations and specifics in general. I hoped this book would get me started growing cannabis but it will not. Huge rudimentary drawings, no photos, take up lots of space that should have been used for useful "how to do it" information. You can get much more specific info from the internet and YouTube than this book conveys and get it for free. I was swayed to purchase this book by its 5-star rave reviews but now I wonder if those reviews weren't unduly biased to boost book sales.
The book is a good one. Although I have researched the internet, there is useful information that I did not see on the internet. I recommend this book to add to your collection.
Whether you are a novice looking to start, or an experienced grower looking for tips, Danny has you covered! A great book filled with all the information you would need to grow a beautiful Cannabis plant! After years of working for High Times, Danny knows what it takes.
