Very solid writing here. There is a plotline from beginning to end, and the concept of gaming as a mix of people interacting with a digital environment is very well written. On the plus side, the descriptions are extremely well done. The author appears to have a good comprehension of anatomy; what is and is not possible. Too many try ot make their protagonist 'unique' by having super-flexible wrists, or insane strength; this tale is far more realistic. The author also does a good job linking reality to 'fake' reality, noting the differences between pain and actual damage. It's a difficult balancing act, but portrayed with excellence here.*spoiler*On the downside, the early part seems a little rushed. There was a small reference to the player needing to 'log out' for basic body maintenance, but it never made its presence known within the rest of the story. In other words, the protagonist is introduced as a master martial artist, loses interest without his sight, and spends the rest of the book in a game without ever logging out again. Ever. What makes it frustrating is that there were plenty of references to other people logging out; 2 hour limits, 10 minutes, heading to work ... the entire gamut of (realistic!) reasons to stop gaming. But the protagonist never does. He never seems to deal with his blindness.Still, despite that rather glaring error, the entire work is worth the price. Looking forward to more!

I had read the reviews and thought this book was interesting. It gets right to the point of being inside the game, and one aspect "which I liked" was that the MC doesn't go out of game. One reviewer wrote that it was bad because others mentioned logging out but MC never left. I only saw one person mention logging out, but I believe the writer just wanted to avoid the Real Life scenarios, probably due to it being boring and just skipped the logging out. There was mention of sleep and days passing sometimes, maybe inferring he logged out - don't care. The overall story was good, a bit of an emotional MC for my tastes but I won't hold that back as a bad rating. He was working through issues apparently and was engrossed in the game. I liked a lot about the game, but really was looking for more character development. It was basically cookie cutter characters, each class was the same and had the same moves. So as an example if you were a samari you could only have the samari moves, but could choose different crafting which wasn't really a big part of this story lol. So basically you only had a couple of stats in the book and cookie cutter classes??? Kind of simplifies it and that is the biggest complaint I have for the whole book. It was more about the MC struggles emotionally and less about character development. Again, this was just my opinion but it doesn't take away from this being a good. book.

Bushido Online is a breath of fresh air compared to the numerous fantasy LitRPG books that seem to be breeding like rabbits. The author takes a former MMA fighter and throws him into an online game, ostensibly as a means of rehabilitation of the MC's physical and mental state. The world setting was focused on feudal Japan, and the professions and skills did not seem out of place in this setting. I give kudos to the author for avoiding the trap of making the main character overpowering, as the MC is constantly fighting for his survival in the game. The only reason I declined to rate the work 5 stars was that I felt lost in trying to figure out where the author wanted to take the MC. Simply put, there's more to a LitRPG story than questing. I sincerely hope that the author will sit back and think about why the MC should continue playing Bushido Online rather than another game.

This was a really fun book to read. It had a lot of heart, and the characters were funny and interesting. If there was one criticism I had about the story, it's that I didn't see a lot of his martial arts come into play. I felt that the main character was running around a lot, saving his Energy Bar for special moves. It would have been so much cooler to see him take on enemies with all the skills he's learned through his lifetime of practice, especially when considering video game characters have infinite stamina.Regardless, I'm picking up the next book, because reading about his progress through this world is still really fun.

A MMA who is blind3d through an illegal attack during a match, is given the opportunity to experience an open source gaming world through VR.He adapts to this world and becomes so involved it appears more than real to him.Good book, with no obvious editing or spelling errors, easy to read.

I love the litrpg genre for its whole entirety, but this brought a few things i have never seen1. Something other than European culture2. The AI's aren't entirely questionable on how they function3. The fact of realism in it on the political nature in gme if there were unique items, between the roleplayers and non rps4. The only fact that made the mc even a tiny bit op was his real life training(No offense to others writers)

This book was good at first but quickly turned boring and bland to me. I sped through the rest. Sucks cause I was like man this will rock. Then it didn't. Sigh.

Cons: RPG elements were poor, only offering glimpses at the game mechanics , without offering enough to truly understand who was doing what and why. It was predictable for me, offering no real twist.Pros: it reads smoothly and seem put together enough to present a tidy tale.
